Built On Safety

The heart of everything we do

In 2013, our employee-run safety program earned us the Contractor of the Year Safety Award from construction equipment manufacturer Caterpillar. We have consistently built on the excellence of that program. In 2020 we began an annual Safety Days program; our entire field and office staff spends two days in the field, learning daily safety practices, first aid, emergency preparedness, and rescue procedures.

Safety is our foundation

Advanced technology plays a role in our safety program, just like every other aspect of our work. Our full-time Safety Inspector is equipped with reporting software so he is able to send issues and solutions from each job site directly to the office, cutting out any wait time between noting a problem and getting it fixed.

We gladly reward our employees for their commitment to the safety of the company and our clients. For years we distributed cash prizes for reaching safety goals, but in 2019 we discovered a reward that our people like even better: a monthly lunch for the crew with the best safety record. Crew members enjoy a delicious meal, recognition for their good work, and face time with executives which means the opportunity to have their ideas and concerns heard at the highest level. This kind of communication makes our entire operation stronger.

Innovation makes us stronger

Our field crews begin every work day with a focus on safety and goals that sets the foundation for their day, but safety isn’t just a crew concern. We have a safety committee made up of employees from every department of our company, so we have input from every area. This committee meets every month to advocate for employees as we develop our safety policies and programs.
