Dry Lake Restored to Community

Client

Department of General Services

Completion Date

January 2019

Role

General Prime Contractor

After many years of struggling to procure funding for dam repairs, Meadville residents are thrilled to have Tamarack Lake restored as an essential recreation spot thanks to its recent dam rehabilitation. Tamarack Lake is unique for having dams at both the north and south ends. Earthen dams built over 50 years ago, both were deemed hazards in 2012 and the lake was drained for safety.

Neighbors of the lake advocated for nearly a decade to have the dams rehabilitated, and when funds became available, Thomas Construction was the right choice for the project. Staff from the Dept. of General Services valued the Thomas Construction team's problem solving skills and straightforward work ethic. After waiting so long to get a green light on the project, the client and the community greatly appreciated our crew's commitment to staying on schedule.
